I recently got a he'll of a deal on a Switch. I have been digging Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, and Zelda the last few days.

Much to my shame, I still need to properly try the Switch. Only played around with it briefly at E3 and other events but I've been meaning to buy one for myself for quite some time. How are you enjoying it as a platform?

I really enjoy it. It plays well as a portable or on the TV. Very light and comfortable in your hands. As a new dad, the portability has been convenient (no VR for me lately). The detachable joy-cons have come in handy being able to play Mario Kart with my wife without buying an additional controller.

The joy cons have an impressive rumble capability. On 1-2 Switch there's a game where you have to guess how many balls are in the box. As you tilt the joy con it feels like there are actual metal balls rolling around inside. You even feel a click when they hit the ends of the box. Not sure if anything will come of this, but it's impressive nonetheless.

My biggest gripes are mostly the online feature. I haven't tested it but you have to use your cellphone for voice chat. And the shop is horrible. The Wii had a better set up for their marketplace.

Just picked up the master chief collection for 18, not bad for four games I thought!

I've been playing a lot of Mario+Rabbids. The switch has quickly become my primary console.

Same. The only time I've used my Xbox One lately is to replay some of my Xbox 360 games. I suppose it goes to show that at the end of the day, the games are what makes all the difference. (Which gamers have been saying for years.)

Mine is mostly used for TV apps anymore. That might change once Fable anniversary becomes BC.

I don't even use it for that. I've got a 4K TV and Xbox One doesn't output at 4K so if I want to watch all of Netflix's 4K content (which is basically any of their original content these days) then I have to go through the TV app.

Fable Anniversary being BC would be ace though. Even better, a boxed set of all three bloodline games. I heard rumors of that being in the works when FA was in development. But...ya know...

I think it's becoming more true than it's ever been. Sony has taken some chances on a couple new franchises while still churning out sequels.

Part of the M$ problem is their reliance on sequels for 3 or 4 titles then offering the same 3rd party games as their competitors. The 360 was my favorite console last gen and they aren't standings out the way they did then. When fable legends/ soul bound were both canceled my immediate fear was they wouldn't be releasing anything where I wasn't driving a car and or holding a gun as my primary weapon.

Part of why I've gravitated to the switch is they seem to have lined up something interesting in almost every genre for its first year. Nintendo is still being Nintendo but its working with this console. The hybrid approach fits the way I game.(In shorter bursts rather than marathons) It doesn't hurt they seem to be a great platform for indy games.

This is all just my opinion of course. I don't want it to sound like I'm taking a shot at any platform.
