My parents made the decision to throw an Atari 2600 in front of me when I was little. Haven't turned back since. Grew up a Nintendo kid and was converted when playstation hit shelves. Became a bit indecisive by the time xbox360, ps3, and wii came out because I owned all three at some point. That all changed when I built my own PC though and decided to switch to computer gaming. The only thing I play often aside from PC is my Super Nintendo.

The first memory I have of games is watching my older brother play Vampire Killer(Castlevania) on our MSX. Played on it aswell for awhile untill we got a better PC. First portable was a Gameboy Colour with pokemon red. First proper console I think was a ps1. I always had a feeling that consoles might not have been very big here in the Netherlands, because nobody I knew had any for the longest time, until the ps1 era.

I grew up as a PC gamer, but I managed to snag myself a Gameboy Color as my first dedicated gaming system with Donkey Kong Country and Pokemon Silver. My first console was the PS2, so I'm relatively bad at classic console gaming, as proven by my skills on the SNES Classic and my NES. Yikes, avert the eyes.

For whatever reason, dedicated gaming systems were frowned upon in my home for the longest time. I had to borrow my neighbor's gameboy to play Pokemon Red (and hide behind my bed to play it so my parents didn't find out!), and my constant begging for consoles fell on deaf ears. The year my family got the PS2, I had been asking for a Gamecube, but my dad felt the PS2 was a better choice because "it also plays DVDs" and we didn't have a DVD player. The console was a first-gen so it barely played DVDs anyway, haha. Two years later, I had saved enough money to buy myself a Gamecube.

The first computer game I ever played was on the Commodore 64. It was a cartridge game that was about exploring some kind of vampire castle, I can't recall the name of it at all, I just remember typing the commands "look north, look south, open north, go north" for hours and hours. First actual computer game that was played on a desktop machine was the original King's Quest in black and white ridiculously horrible graphics, but back then it was SO COOL!

Atari 2600 for me, though it was pretty quickly followed up by an Apple ][+. Sadly, I missed out on the NES (got to rent one a couple times). In college I knew someone who had an SNES and a Sega Genesis (with the 32x and the SegaCD).

The first one I bought with my own money, though, was an Atari Jaguar (does that even really count?).

Since then it's been almost the whole laundry list.
    Saturn, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U.

    And for handhelds,
Game Gear, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS.

And I've been part of the "PCMR" since Windows 95 and have run every consumer Windows version since.
    * I didn't own the ones in blue and I no longer own the ones in red.

My first handheld was a Nintendo DS lite and my first console was a Wii. I played a lot of animal games at that time.

We had some Chinese NES knock-off, though we didn't know any better. So we'd play Mario and Adventure Island for days. But then i was introduced to the beauty that was the Gameboy. First game was Pokemon Crystal. First console was the ps2 in '05 with Gran turismo 4 and later GTA San Andreas.

My first game was most likely the first mariocart on the SNES since then I have played every single Zelda game. [Other than the CDi. We don't talk about those.] I have also played the main three fable games and the humor made it one of my all time favorite series. My favorite videogame character is Reaver because I have read way too far into his diary and now emphasize with him. My first computer game was Diablo and the first MMO I played was Everquest [Wow old. That was right when I was learning to read.] My mother played videogames and read a lot. So she would play games with me and my sister before I could even read. I like to say I learned to read to play The legend of Zelda Ocarina of time.
