Controller list question

In short, there are four listings that Player controller is not connected exept the one I am using (Player controller one is connected./ Player controller two is not connected./ Player controller three is not connected./ Player controller four is not connected.)

I this a bug of some kind or is there reason we can connect multiple controllers?

It isn't a problem really, it feels more like a precursor to multiplayer since it had four control listings from 1 to 4 and the one I was using showed up as one being on and the rest were off.
