Inheritance Questions
Hi, I've only just heard about this game and I'm really excited, can't wait to see how it develops. I have a few questions about how inheritance will work:
1) If your character dies and your child is only a baby/toddler - what happens?
2) If your character dies and they have no children but do have siblings, would the brother/sister then become playable?
3) What happens to children / family members who you don't control - do kids who aren't the heir/player move out?
I was just wondering how this would all work, it would just bug me if the bloodline broke becuase my heir was only 10 for example...

1) I don't think they've mentioned what would happen in this case.
2) I'm pretty sure the game ends in this instance, the devs might have other plans though! You can adopt if you don't have kids in game.
3) Again I don't think they've said anything regarding this, but it'd be cool if you could employ them to work in your store/for your farm!
Sorry for the vague answers but the points you've raised are interesting!

1. Mr Fairweather always advances child inheritors of the Kynseed to the coming of age (16).
2. No. Only your children can be playable. You get the option to adopt. Refuse and it is game over...basically you need a kid.
3. The current thinking is that they move on. There would only be one anyway, as family size is limited to 2 kids.

Thanks for the swift reply, the adoption option seems great, but I'm guessing they won't inherit the parent's skills?
Also, if playing as a female and you are pregnant, does that have any repercussions (can't fight, slower, less energy)?
(Sorry for bombarding you, I'm just really excited about the possibilities of this game)

Current thinking is over time as they grow up they slowly learn the skills you had, and you can enhance their learning through nurture and by giving them things...like say a book, or weapon, or making them do a task or job.
So the better their inner stats and the better you nurture, the quicker they learn and are more able for when you take control. So for those who take care of their family, the benefits are clear.
Orphans just won't have that same level of ability initially and can't replace good old nurturing.

Sounds great, thanks again!

This is sort of a question I had thought about before, but since I didnt know if adoption was gonna be a thing I held off. Buuut since it is, will you be able to marry any npc regardless of gender?
I was going to make a thread about this, but i saw adoption brought up and thought I'd just add on

Yes you can marry the same gender.

Alright, thanks for the reply! I figured but thought I'd check ^^

Hi Charlie!
Just started playing the early access and was snooping around old Herbert's house when I stumbled across the book which contains the laws of the land. It mentions that you can have maximum three children, but here you say it is actually limited to two, so how many kids can you have? Thanks!
