Accessing the Dev Pub
The Dev Pub is available for anyone who backed the Kickstarter at the Land Shaper tier or higher. (If you backed at those tiers but don't yet have access, just head to the Backer Verification Thread and we'll get you set up.)
This is a look into the tentative design documents that have been made for tavern jobs and the tavern itself. Everything in the following is liable to change and get adjusted as we go along but we wanted to give you a glimpse into how early design document drafts often look (aka, drafty and unpolished!). Plus, we're very keen to get your feedback on all of this. So what follows is a word-for-word copy/paste of our first draft of tavern design documents. Let us know what you think (don't hold back) and feel free to ask any questions you may have as well. Enjoy! :drunk: :pint:

A top-down view of the tavern's layout.
StockYou can pre-craft beers using beer recipes, or make your own and name them, by using the crafting station.
You can use the Ledger to order in pre-made beers, the quality of which are dictated by location and Rep level.
The amount of beer left is denoted by using Status Trigger and looking at the bar on the keg, or during the minigame when this is always visible.
ServingUse the sign to open the tavern and customers will begin to appear.
They will find a table to sit at and then order via an icon above their heads.
The icon will show one of 4 cup types: acorn cup, wooden mug, pewter tankard and a large wooden stein. It will also show the number of the beer.
Press B, X or Y to pick up a cup into that slot (you can pick up 3), then move to the numbered kegs.
Switch to the cup you want as per a tool, and hold R trigger to start filling.
The bigger the cup the longer it takes to fill (a cup icon appears under the keg).

Then you can run to a patron and hold A to enter the Gifting screen and Gift the beer. Only cups you hold will appear on the Gifting screen.
As they are waiting, a green circle bar around the patron’s order icon ticks down to red. This is their patience level. If it expires they will leave and your Rep will take a hit.
There may be spillages which will make you or patrons fall over if they step on it, so for this there is a bucket that you can assign or just pick up. You need to fill it from the water pump, then put the water on the spillage to clear it.
A patron has a ‘Happiness’ bar on their Left Trigger Status that shows their level of satisfaction.
It starts in the blue, then goes either into the green or red. The amount of Rep gained is based on their happiness when they pass the door to leave.
Any patron that leaves in the green will leave a tip.
Patrons have a drunkenness bar visible on the Left Trigger Status. With drunkness they have increased happiness, but are more likely to spill. If the bar reaches the end they will vomit and leave.
Note: fairies puke rainbows and sparkles.

Information about a tavern patron.
EntertainingPatrons can be entertained by the player picking up and using the supplied Lute, or by hiring entertainers for the day from the Ledger.
Entertaining will slightly slow the rate of impatience and raise overall happiness.
Hiring entertainers for the day costs money; the better the quality the more the cost.
However, a good Rep may bring offers to entertain from traveling entertainers, such as Mummers.
Entertainer Types:
- Mummer - A folk band that sing and act out stories.
- Fool - A joke teller that juggles.
- Bard - Sings songs.
- Minstrel Group - Merry dancing music.
- Exotic dancer - A mysterious lady who dances salubriously.
Each type will be liked more by some types of patrons and disliked by others. Getting a reputation for one type of entertainment will attract a certain kind of crowd
The Ledger
Interact with the Ledger to control all aspects of the shop. Items in the Ledger:
- Ordering drink supplies
- Reputation score
- Renaming tavern
- Renaming products
- Profit / loss
- Hiring / firing staff
- Hiring / booking entertainers
Stock PageThe tavern ledger is slightly different from the Goods Store Ledger in that the Stock page has finite slots for inventory, and to be able to hold more you must create a space by pouring away something.

Crafting Beer
The Crafting Station appears thus, and has 3 sections: Malt Roasting, Mashing and Boiling.
When one section is finished, the UI automatically moves on to the next section.

Malt RoastingWhen the paddle removes the grains from the kiln, we move on to the next section.

MashingThe malt grains are automatically inside the tun.
You can optionally add an ingredient to ‘flavour’ the beer and the beer will have the main Trait.

BoilingThe brew needs to be HEATED (shown with wisps of Steam). During this stage adding more water allows more alcohol to be produced; this cannot be done once the Brew has BOILED.
The aim is to get the brew to boil, represented by the steam and temperature gauge.
This must be balanced with getting alcohol in there. The higher the alcohol level the stronger the drink, but not allowing to overheat (temp in the red and steam black). If that happens the process is ruined.
Once the Brew Has Boiled it must be cooled as quickly as possible by having COLD WATER pumped over the kettle. The steam will disperse and disappear to show that this is complete.

Temp GaugeThe temperature gauge will display the current temperature levels and will help show when there's a risk of overheating.

FinishingOnce the beer is made then you get the grading screen.

The label shows the Alcohol Percentage.
The stronger the beer, the happier people are, but the quicker they will get drunk.
You can assign a beer to one of the 3 kegs by going to the keg when the tavern is closed and choosing which beer to fill it with from a drop down menu of beers you have created.
To manage your beers, use the Ledger.
Credit to Charlie for putting these designs and images together. The tavern job is but one of a few that you can choose from in Kynseed, so it's easy to see how the entire collection of Kynseed design documents (well and above just the job ones) makes for a rather hefty series of documents! Hopefully you found this glimpse into some of the designs interesting or insightful. Feel free to post your thoughts below and let us know what you think or, if you have any questions, feel free to post those too. Cheers!
